Helen Colfer from Atlantic Masters Swimming Club was delighted to have the opportunity to thank Phyllis Hayes, Commodore from Galway Bay Sailing Club for their wonderful support of the inaugural Atlantic Lifeboat Swim that took place at Rinville Pier on the 15th June this year.  The swim was organised by local swimming club Atlantic Masters and raised €7k for both the Galway Lifeboat (RNLI) and Oranmore Maree Costal Search Unit.

The swim was a huge success with 98 swimmers taking part in the main 2km on the day and 30 swimmers participating in the 250m novice swim event.  Galway Bay Sailing Club opened their club house to the event providing swimmers with much appreciated warm showers and changing facilities.  For many swimmers this was pure luxury as often it’s a quick change at the back of the car in all types of weather.  Also in attendance for the presentation on the evening was Sean Og Leydon DLA Galway Lifeboat and Pierce Purcell from Galway Bay Sailing Club.
