Wow, what a day!

While the official results and details of the day can be found on the Galway Bay Swim site,  the sentiments of the swimmers were perfectly summed up by Mike- who knows a thing or two about a Bay crossing:

‘Worst bay conditions ever.

It was worse than the big 2012 swell. They were swimming on top of the swell going up and down.
Yesterday was 3 strokes + bash all the way across.

Fastest swimmer yesterday was over 4hrs

A 16 minute Heskin swimmer.

12 swimmers were under 4 hrs in 2012.

Well done to all the amazing pilots + boat crew yesterday. Super achievement getting everyone to Blackrock.’

Here here, we are all so proud of everyone’s resiliency, and the community spirit that the hardship of the day brought out!
