Traught Beach

Located in South Galway Bay, this gently sloping sandy beach is an ideal spot for families. There is a lifeguard service during the summer months which means Traught beach is particularly safe for bathing and has consistently been awarded the Blue Flag.

Traught is at the end of our usual Lynches Pier swim and the swim route can easily be reversed, just watch out for the tide, if more than two hours around high tide, you might be walking the towards Lynches Pier.

Traught is swimmable at all stages of the tide, however if swimming at low tide, be prepared for a walk to find some depth.
